The Valerie Zeitler Hautedoll Collections Fan Post

Hautedoll magazine (which later merged into Dolls magazine) had a few special editions where they teamed up with designer Valerie Zeitler to release special collections of SD sized clothes. The clothes were produced by Doll Heart and available exclusively through HauteDoll. Each collection was named and included a themed Peak's Woods SD size doll and a series of outfits, wigs, accessories, and shoes with in a theme. Items included a member and non-member price, although many sold out quite quickly.  In this post, I intend to forever memorialize these amazing collections and magazine issues with photographs and other information from the magazine. Being that the magazine itself is no longer published, information about these outfits can be hard to find, so I hope this will help other enthusiasts identify and cherish these amazing outfits.  Please note I have none of these items for sale. However, if you happen to have one of these items and are looking for a new home, please send m

It's Dangerous to go Alone

Image
"It's dangerous to go on adventures." "You need to be careful, little brother." "I'm big enough! But I promise I will be careful."  "Goodbye!" "I hope he stays out of trouble..." just a short story today! Link's official outfits aren't ready yet but his face and wig I'm pretty happy with.

New Doll Incoming

I ordered a new doll today! Its Iplehouse Zenon! FID size. I ordered him in special real skin, with face up, extra hands, model body, and the dark priest set becuase, why not? I loved him when he was first released, and I'm so happy to finally resolve to order him :) I looked in the 'accessories' area of iplehouse in case something else caught my eye, and behold, a black FID fedora hat! OMG his slight smile, and a fedora, he can be like Mat Cauthon! He's one of my favorite characters from the Wheel of Time (which I'm on my second re-read of). The other thing I like about Zenon is just how different he will be next to Geralt (SartoriaJ Elf Dominic). Geralt is very stern, serious, pensive sort of look, and to me Zenon looks coy, amused, and a bit mischevious! I love variety in my dolls so I'm super excited to have the pairing. With the model body, he will also be slimmer and more boyish than the body builder look of Geralt (which is on the 'athletic'

Dolly decisions - how to find Link

Image
So I asked my husband if he was sad that there were no Castlevania characters represented in the doll cabinet. He said no, he would rather see a Link from Legend of Zelda. Sooo off I went in search of Link. I knew he couldn't be a 50+cm behemoth like an Iplehouse FID etc. He should probably be a short younger man maybe 45 or even 40 cm. I like Withdoll but I wonder if the head will look out of scale with the other dolls. I found a Withdoll Ian on the marketplace and hit buy!  he has elf ears so I believe he is elf warrior Ian although he has a rough faceup by a previous owner and no clothes or accessories. Overall I feel he will work as Link....as long as he fits in with the group   I plan to try my msd DSDoll dog head on the body, and if it fits well I may buy a DSDoll Ghost which I feel makes a good Link.  Then!! I found out about IOS Unitot line and I found someone selling a Sezz! I'm kind of sad about buying the Withdoll, it looks like the Unitot line is perfect

Construction continues on the Tavern

Image
I worked more on my fantasy medieval tavern. I knew I needed another wall, since all my dolls together don't fit in the tavern. I decided a wall with a door would be interesting. I could use it as exterior wall and as an interior wall.  With a door, I knew I needed hinges. I searched only for a few 3D printer files for hinges. One set looked perfect for my door, but it was a "print in place" type hinge that I knew at small scale would wind up nonfunctional. I also found a printable 3 piece hinge. So I printed each at about 33% scale. They came out very small but I was able to assemble the 3 piece hinge using a straight pin for the center. I then purposely busted the larger print in place hinge to glue to either side of the small hinge. I made the wall out of foam board and true to most my foam board projects, it began to warp. So I glued thick cardboard to the back. The door was a perfect fit and the hinges were working. Then I needed to make the wall freestanding and rea

Hello Adventurer! Troll Doll Arrival!

Image
I received Misterminou Doll Zorgah in mint resin this week! I ordered both head options, the axe, and the helmet (so the full set). Due to currency conversion and fees, she clocks in at one of most expensive dolls currently. Here is her box opening  my kids are super helpful. very cute box, which at this point surprised me with it's weight. Also surprising was a bit of damage on the box despite it's careful packaging id soon learn the damage was caused by the beast within... Super cute details on and in the box. I love ordering from folks who put so much care into their craft.  the handwritten note was a lovely touch.  Kids stealing my bubble wrap based on the layout of things inside the box, Zorgah had been literally kicking through the bottom of the box to cause the damage.  i opened each smaller package and then the doll itself when I opened the helmet my immediate rea

Adventure to the Forest

Image
Rosali and Butterscotch went on the trail through the Lincoln National Forest campground. I wish I had took some photos of her next to the horse, like leading the horse on the trail. Maybe next time. I also did not drag them up the hill at the nature reserve, but I did get some really nice pictures that would have been perfect with a doll. You'll just have to image they are there.
