Tales of Skyealloland

 I've decided to part with my Iplehouse FID Luna and a stockpile of several other doll related items. 

So I discovered a new bjd throu Instagram today. It's a line of very teen looking boys that honestly is exactly what I've been looking for as a balance to the chiseled manly Geralt (SartoriaJ Dominic).  This is just one of the boys from the lineup of 5: i think he looks great! He almost reminds me of someone I knew in high school. I'm not sure what his cost will be and I need to compare his measurements to that of the group to make sure he would fit in. His height is 51cm, so pretty much the same as Geralt, and he takes 10mm eyes, which is the same as a few others, so I'm pretty sure but still wanting to check the head and shoulders.  His hand options are so lovely thou, I absolutely love hands with lots of expression. Time will tell if I have to add another doll on my waiting list..... UPDATE Ok so the preorder is open....and this is way outside of my normal expenditures by doll. Sigh. I'll continue to browse for more men for my group.

So it seems my crew should be near done but alas, new dolls continue to catch my eye. SartoriaJ is the culprit this time. A few days ago I ordered Elf Juliet in warm ivory with the dew bust. I wanted the corset bust but Jay said he would not sell it as the default bust, only for the extra $70. I dislike having too many spare body parts floating around so I passed on that.  here is her company photo. I also got the outfit and the faceup. I like the scar but I got the faceup without it. I also did not order the eyes. My Luthien was pretty difficult to find good eyes for, but she does have really nice eyes now from a lovely Etsy seller....located in....Russia. Shoot. All the Russian Etsy sellers are banned or otherwise missing for the moment. What a bummer. So the search starts anew.  In addition to eyes, she will need boots. I will die on this hill of badass warrior tree elves would not wear high heels. So I search for ordinary boots. The only exception to this in my crew is

 Back in 2017 I only had one fashion scale BJD - my new Creature Doll Guardian Phyllis. I took comparison photos of her and my traditional MSD - Blue Fairy Jasmine, and my unique MSD - Souldoll Souloid Iraki (now sold). I was so impressed with how she could pose, she really sent me on a spiral that would lead to so many more dolls like her in the years to come!

 In 2019 I only owned 3 fashion scale BJD, but took some interesting comparison photos that I'd like to share. The dolls in this comparison are: Doll Family-A MSD hybrid with Creature Doll Mei head, faceup by me (the human) Creature Doll Guardian Phyllis with company faceup Raccoondoll Elf Iris in Grey, faceup by me, old slim body.

 When I ordered my first iplehouse FID, I made sure to buy ALL the extra hands! In fact, I accidentally ordered two pairs of one set. I have no regrets! Here are photos showing off all the different sets:

 I was very intrigued to see a ball jointed doll made by Sideshow Collectibles. I opted for the blank doll instead of the fullset, which later lead to a very very long search for the perfect shoes. These photos are a throwback from September 30, 2020. This is my first super thin doll, and I love her look and how she poses.

  One of my favorite things to do in the BJD hobby is compare all the different kinds of dolls. For these photos, originally taken back in February 2021, I had 5 dolls to compare: Sideshow Collectibles Muse of Bone (blank) Raccoondoll Elf Iris in Grey on original slim body, with faceup by me. Iplehouse Aaliyah slim body small bust, with chest blushing and EID Aaliyah custom faceup Creature Doll Guardian Phyllis and Somnia Crawler Dolls Nara, the orc, with custom faceup by Somnia Crawler. Muse of Bone has super high heel feet, and sadly no flat feet option, so she is held up with a stand. The others all stand unaided, generally, although Somnia Crawler's knees are not as stable as the others so she, too, has a stand. I love how each body is unique. The Raccoondoll aesthetically is my least favorite, although it does pose really well. I understand there is a new slim body so I may get a new Raccoondoll in the future with the new body to see if I like it better. If there are other com

  Sadly Flickr will be marking many of my comparison and box opening photos for 'delete' soon as I do not have a Flickr pro account. So I've decided to move my primary doll photos for box openings and comparisons to Blogger. Here is my most recent box opening photos, from August 20, 2021. I received SartoriaJ Elf Dominic 51 with faceup and hand blushing in Sonoran Beige and SartoriaJ Elf Luthien 45 blank in Amber Beige with Bell Bust. I actually ordered both in Amber Beige, but SartoriaJ had a mix up and sent me Dominic in Sonoran Beige. I've come to enjoy him in this color, and SartoriaJ sent me a partial refund and a coupon for the error.   Elf Dominic is my first official 'fashion scale' msd bjd and he's a bit unwieldly, he is so much bigger than the other dolls.
